Perfection vs. Progress

What is perfection? I think it's Someday We’ll All Be Free by Donny Hathaway.

I admire Hathaway's genius and strived for perfection as THE goal. In the past, perfection caused me to procrastinate or stop completely on creative projects in order to protect myself from criticism from the outside world, but more importantly from myself. Perfection could be attained through a spreadsheet and formulas. Not so easy when you're relying on outside opinions.

Now I choose progress. I've allowed myself space for mistakes and learned the different between a critic and an resource.

Plus, progress helps me be nicer to myself and others moving forward, because I see myself in their journey.
